HOW TO USE AND APPLY BEARD OIL - THE RIGHT WAY

Posted on

Beard oil is simple. Two minutes, one small can, big results. Still, most guys either use too much, apply at the wrong time, or forget the skin underneath. Here’s how to do it right - every time.

WHAT DOES BEARD OIL DO?

It’s not magic fertiliser. It’s maintenance.

  • Moisturises skin under the beard to help prevent itch and flake.
  • Softens hair so it feels good and looks neat.
  • Adds natural sheen - healthy, not greasy.
  • Tames - keeping those flyaways and frizz at bay.
  • Keeps hair healthy by preventing split ends and breakage.
  • Improves manageability so combing sets your shape quickly.
  • Protects from environmental stress - wind, cold, and dry air.
  • Smells great – adds a layer of fragrance either instead of your cologne or as a compliment to it.

WHEN TO APPLY BEARD OIL: TIMING IS EVERYTHING

The prime time to apply beard oil

Right after a warm shower is prime time, the hair is clean, and pores are open. Towel-dry so the beard is damp, not dripping wet - a slight bit of water helps distribute oil more evenly.

Short on showers? Splash warm water on your beard, pat dry, then oil. Consistency beats perfection.

HOW MUCH BEARD OIL TO USE (BY LENGTH)

Think “less than you expect”. Start off with a smaller amount of beard oil, you can always add more if you feel it’s needed. Your goal is soft hair and comfortable skin.

1-2 DROPS - STUBBLE

3-4 DROPS - SHORT BEARD

5-6 DROPS - MEDIUM BEARD

7+ DROPS - LONG FULL BEARD

STEP-BY-STEP APPLICATION OF BEARD OIL

  1. Dispense the oil into your palm. Remember Oil Can’s beard oil cans are designed to drip with ease. Simply remove the lid and invert the can. Let gravity and our specially designer dropper do the work. No shaking required.
  2. Warm it up by rubbing hands together distributing it over your palms and underside of your fingers to help with application.
  3. Start with the skin. Slide fingertips under the beard and massage the face - cheeks, chin, jaw, neck. This is where itch begins.
  4. Work through the hair. Rake your fingers through from neck upward to the cheeks, then down from the cheeks to naturally lay the hair.
  5. Moustache pass. Use what’s left on your fingers to coat the ’stache, pinching lightly to distribute.
  6. Comb. A quality comb will help spread the beard oil evenly and style your beard into shape.

PRO TECHNIQUE: TWO-PASS METHOD FOR BIG BEARDS

For longer beards, split the dose. This keeps the base nourished without over-coating the outside.

Pass 1: Half the drops applied deep to the skin and roots.
Pass 2: The rest focused on mid-lengths and ends to smooth frizz.

COMMON MISTAKES (AND EASY FIXES)

Greasy look: You used too much. Blot with a towel and scale back next time.

Persistent itch: You’re only coating hair. Spend 20 seconds massaging the skin.

Uneven coverage: Apply on damp hair and always finish with a comb or brush.

Scent too strong: Use fewer drops; fragrance should sit close, not enter the room ahead of you.
